    Laura is the Clinic Manager at the Oxford location.

    Laura graduated from University of Maryland Baltimore (UMB) with a Doctorate of Physical Therapy degree. Prior to UMB, she graduated from Towson University in Baltimore, Maryland with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. While in Maryland, she completed one year of internships in both in-patient and out-patient settings. She moved to the Raleigh area soon after finishing graduate school, finally settling in the Wake Forest area.

    Laura treats patients with orthopedic injuries and neurological disorders such as strokes.  She specializes in spine injuries, including back and neck pain. She has been McKenzie Certified since 2010 and has also completed the Program of Certification classes for cervical spine, thoracic spine, lumbar spine, and extremities.  Laura has attended the Matheson Functional Capacity Evaluation (FCE) Certification Program, learning about injuries in the workplace.  She also has specialty training in the management of chronic pain and is certified in Trigger Point Dry Needling.

    Outside of work, Laura enjoys walking, reading, and gardening. Her weekends are spent with her husband, family, and dog, Delia. Her favorite pastimes are riding her horses, going for trail rides, and riding jet skis at Smith Mountain Lake.

     

     

  • Melissa Kuhns PT, DPT

    Melissa KuhnsPT, DPT

    Melissa began working for BreakThrough Physical Therapy in September 2017. She earned her Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree and her Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Physiology from East Carolina University in Greenville, NC.

    Melissa takes special interest in manual therapy, running injuries, and post-surgical rehab. In Greenville, she volunteered with a local running group in their “Couch-to-5K” program, providing injury screens and giving presentations on injury prevention. She is motivated by seeing her patients improve. She is excited to begin her career at BreakThrough PT, where she can pursue compassionate, patient-first care and manual therapy intervention while completing an orthopaedic residency.

    In her spare time, Melissa loves running and exploring the many trails and greenway routes throughout the Triangle, trying new recipes in the kitchen, reading, and spending time with friends and family.

  • Sean Duggan PT, DPT

    Sean DugganPT, DPT

    Sean earned his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar, MO.  Prior to this, he earned his undergraduate degree in Exercise Science from Truman State University in Kirksville, MO.

    Sean takes special interest in post-surgical rehabilitation (hip, knee, ankle, shoulder, etc.), manual therapy, and neuroscience.  He plans to pursue his Orthopaedic Clinical Specialist Certification through Evidence In Motion’s Orthopaedic Residency program.

    As an avid runner, Sean has completed four half-marathons and plans to participate in a triathlon in the near future. He enjoys doing anything outside to stay active: running, hiking, biking, playing sports, and resistance training. Sean and his wife, Melissa, live in Youngsville with their daughter, Emerie, and love trying out new restaurants, traveling to new areas, and playing with their daughter in their free time.
